Nvidia RTX 3050 graphics will satisfy players with two versions!

The RTX 3050 could come out next month in 4GB and 8GB.

Nvidia is expected to show a budget RTX 3050 graphics card next month – that is, a desktop version, not laptop graphics, which is also missing – and it could come in two variants with 4GB and 8GB of VRAM.

This is fresh from Twitter’s kopite7kimi, who claims there will be two different variants: the GA106-150 getting 2560 CUDA cores and 8GB of VRAM, and the GA106-140 with 2304 CUDA cores with 4GB of VRAM.

In other words, we’re looking at a (relatively) more powerful dual VRAM version, along with a more affordable model, although remember that you should take this information with a healthy grain of salt, especially since there have been a lot of rumors about the RTX 3050. That said, , the fresh rumor does align with some of the previous speculation we’ve heard, at least in regards to the GA106-150.

If all goes according to plan, Nvidia could release the RTX 3050 or both of the versions shown at CES 2022 in January, the graphics cards could possibly go on sale later this month on January 27th, according to rumors. The RTX 3090 Ti is expected to arrive alongside the budget Ampere models, so we could have a mountain of new products on both ends of the price spectrum.

PUTTING THE PUZZLE PIECE TOGETHER

The two options available – or at least cheap in theory before price pressure and scalpers hit – graphics cards will be great news next month. In fact, anything would be good news, as we’ve had to go through 2021 without a budget Ampere-based product (and we’re still waiting for something from AMD).

Interestingly, we heard earlier that the RTX 3050 Ti could be based on the GA106-150 graphics card, and for this reason, it is likely that the latest leak concerns the 3050 Ti and the vanilla 3050, and not the two 3050 editions.

VideoCardz seems pretty sure that’s not the case, and Nvidia will launch two different RTX 3050 models based on two GA106 editions, followed by a more powerful GA106-based offering that will become the Ti version – based on a single graphics chip for the entire graphics card line to save on production costs. It makes sense.

Time will tell, but really all we want to see is affordable, modern graphics cards on store shelves. We also expect the AMD RX 6500 XT next month, and the RX 6400 a couple of months later if the rumors are to be believed, and of course we’re looking forward to the Intel Arc Alchemist GPUs coming early next year. They could make a splash, especially if Nvidia and AMD can’t agree on their budget decisions and leave the door open for Intel.

Here are the best Nvidia graphics cards.
