Nvidia RTX Super on Laptops: What Should Gamers Expect?

The Nvidia Super signals big changes in gaming laptops.

Nvidia switched to Super. The company recently announced that the Super series of graphics cards are preparing to move to gaming laptops. The latest generation graphics cards now available for PCs promise better performance, which should be music to the ears of mobile gamers.

| WHAT IS NVIDIA SUPER?

Everything in order. What exactly is the Nvidia Super? The new graphics cards are the latest addition to Nvidia’s RTX 20 series lineup for desktop and mobile. In addition to ray tracing and variable speed shading to enhance graphics realism, Super delivers improved performance. Super series graphics cards offer more CUDA cores and run faster than regular RTXs.

How much faster? Well, it all depends on the characteristics of the laptop and the operating conditions. Be aware of temperatures, power limitations and similar aspects. But if the desktop results become an indication, we could expect a 25% increase.

| WHAT WILL BECOME WITH LAPTOPS?

While Super series graphics cards start at 2060, Nvidia is going to offer Super 2070 and 2080 for laptops. This means that we will see any of these graphics cards in high-end machines such as the Alienware Area-51 and MSI GT76 Titan, if they receive update.

Here’s how Super graphics play against RTX:

GeForce RTX 2080 Super GeForce RTX 2070 Super GeForce RTX 2080 GeForce RTX 2070 GeForce RTX 2060

| HOW HIGHER IS THE PERFORMANCE?

Now we can say that Super RTX … are faster. Until we get the first laptops, we can’t say how much faster. However, we are ready to test, so stay tuned.

Gaming laptops are expecting significant performance gains thanks to Nvidia. Super GPUs will be able to offer all the ray tracing benefits of classic RTX graphics cards, but with performance gains – how much remains to be seen. But rest assured, this is an exciting time for the players.
