Together with virtual reality and RGB-illuminated products, external graphics solutions for laptops are a clear trend at this year’s Computex trade fair. One of the manufacturers who wants their share of the cake is Taiwanese Powercolor, who take the opportunity to show off their small graphics card box Devil Box.
Devil Box is based around an external box with an integrated power supply of 500 W, where this can accommodate any graphics card with PCI Express connection. This in turn connects via Intel’s Thunderbolt 3 interface to any computer with support for the standard, and provides four lanes of PCI Express 3.0 for communication.
In addition, the model functions as a pure docking station, with support for, for example, internal storage in the 2.5 “size. Furthermore, connections are offered in the form of four USB 3.0 ports, a USB Type-C and gigabit ethernet.
The Powercolor Devil Box is expected to be available in stores during the third quarter of the year. The company has not nailed the price picture yet, but expects to be significantly lower than Razer’s competing solution Core.
