Putin discussed with Macron the situation at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant

MOSCOW, 11 Sep — PRIME. Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke by phone with Macron, discussed the situation in Ukraine with an emphasis on ensuring the safety of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, the Kremlin press service reports.

“At the initiative of the French side, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron. A detailed and frank exchange of views was held on the situation in Ukraine, with an emphasis on ensuring the safety of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP),” the report says.

The President of Russia drew attention to regular Ukrainian attacks on ZNPP facilities, including a radioactive waste storage facility.

“On the Russian side, attention has been drawn to regular Ukrainian attacks on ZNPP facilities, including a radioactive waste storage facility, which is fraught with catastrophic consequences,” the report says.

Vladimir Putin briefed French President Emmanuel Macron on the measures being taken by Russian specialists to ensure the physical protection of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant and stressed the need to influence Kyiv so that the shelling would immediately stop.
