Release date, price, news and rumors

Everything we know about the GeForce RTX 3060.

And while the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 hasn’t gotten the proper announcement this summer at the Nvidia 30-series launch event, there’s still every reason to believe we’ll see another mid-range Ampere graphics card at an aggressive price point.

While nothing is known in advance, Nvidia insiders have reportedly received the specs of the upcoming RTX 3060, and GPU OEM Palit has registered dozens of EEC SKUs for RTX 3060 GPUs.

But what caused the delay? Well, it’s about AMD’s Big Navi announcement on October 28th. Most likely, Nvidia is holding on to its budget bargaining chip to snatch a chunk of AMD’s graphics card audience, as there is no better way to undermine Team Red’s release than by outplaying the mid-range graphics cards in the market a competitor is debuting in.

Ironically, AMD’s competition makes it highly likely that Nvidia will abandon the classic model with the RTX 3060 Ti or Super released earlier than the original model. The launch can be strange, but understandable.

So what do we know about the new RTX 3060? Here’s what we know at the moment.

In pursuit!

  • What is it? Upcoming GeForce RTX 3000 mid-range graphics
  • When to expect? Early to mid November;
  • How much is? We expect 339 $ (23500r + VAT);

| RTX 3060 RELEASE DATE

We haven’t received any official announcements yet, but rumors suggest the RTX 3060 could be announced in late October to darken AMD’s Big Navi debut. If the announcement and release follows the lead of the rest of the Ampere cards, they should go on sale sometime in early to mid November.

| RTX 3060 PRICES

Without an official release, we don’t know the exact price of the RTX 3060. But given that the RTX 3070 will cost you $ 499 (Rs 35,000 + VAT) when the card goes on sale in October, any RTX 3060 graphics card will definitely go on sale for less.

Considering that the Nvidia Ampere graphics cards we’ve seen so far have not seen any gain in price over the previous Turing graphics cards, we could assume the RTX 3060 will sell for no less than $ 300 (RUR 21,000 + VAT), but there is a catch.

Despite the significant drop in the price of the RTX 3090 over its predecessor, the RTX 3070 is selling for exactly the same price as the RTX 2070 when it was released, just like the RTX 3080, so it seems likely that the RTX 3060 will follow suit. Since the RTX 2060 hit the market for $ 339 (RUR 23,500 + VAT), the same pricing should be expected from the RTX 3060.

If the rumored 3060 Ti / Super is announced instead of the original model, because now is 2020, why not? – then the video card should go on sale at the same price as the RTX 2060 Super, which sold for $ 399 (28000r + VAT).

| RTX 3060 FEATURES

We haven’t received official confirmation of the specs yet, but rumors suggest that the RTX 3060 will come in two versions.

The network already had the characteristics of a more powerful version, the 3060 Ti (or 3060 Super, at the moment there is no clear picture), a video card that is only slightly inferior to the RTX 3070. And while the video card will use the same GPU as the RTX 3070 (GA104) , RTX 3060 will receive 1024 cores less CUDA than 3070 (from 4864 to 5888, respectively).

The base model RTX 3060 won’t be as powerful, although it’s hard to tell if there will be fewer CUDA cores, less memory, or perhaps both. The graphics card is expected by the slow GA106 GPU, which may not yet be ready for demo.

Here’s what we expect from the more powerful RTX 3060 Ti / Super:

  • CUDA kernels: 4864;
  • Video memoryStk #: 8 Gb GDDR6X;
  • Memory interface: 256-bit;
  • TDP: 220 W;
  • Power connectors: x1 8-pin PCIe connector;

As for the base model RTX 3060, it should get 6GB or 8GB of video memory and will probably get a hundred or two fewer CUDA cores. We’ll definitely see more as we get closer to release, so we will be looking forward to specs for the base model very soon.
