Update Your Nvidia Graphics Card Software: Here’s Why!

A dozen different vulnerabilities can allow hackers to compromise your computer.

If your computer has an Nvidia graphics card, it’s time to update your driver and GPU management application, GeForce Experience (GFE).

There are at least 12 vulnerabilities in earlier versions of the GFE driver and software, says Nvidia at two commentspublished the day before yesterday (November 6). Attackers can use flaws to steal information, run their malicious code, hijack a system, or prevent video cards from working properly.

The good news is that most attacks will require “local access to the system,” that is, access to the machine itself, or perhaps the local network.

To make sure your Nvidia GeForce graphics card is up to date, go to Nvidia driver downloads and either specify the characteristics of your video card, or ask the system to identify your video card. Then you will proceed to the page from which you can download the updated driver with the version number 441.12 or higher.

To update your GeForce Experience software, go to downloads GeForce and download the fix. The GFE software must be updated to version 3.20.1 or later.

Driver patches for Nvidia professional graphics cards (Quadro), corporate (NVS and vGPU), as well as supercomputers (Tesla) and virtualization software are not quite ready yet, but should be available in the region on November 18.
