MOSCOW, 4 Oct — PRIME. U.S. reduced natural gas (LNG) producers ramped up exports to Europe in September, although total shipments lagged the average for the first eight months of 2022 due to the suspension of one of the terminals. This was reported by Reuters, citing data from Refinitiv Eikon.
US LNG production is lagging behind full capacity due to a fire at the Freeport terminal in June that brought it to a halt. At the same time, demand and prices for LNG are rising as European buyers try to find an alternative to Russian gas.
In September, 87 shipments of LNG departed the United States, totaling 6.3 million tons, according to tanker tracking data. In August, 6.25 million tons were exported, but earlier this year, monthly deliveries exceeded 7 million tons.
Approximately 70% of the shipments, or 4.37 million tons of LNG, were sent to Europe, while in August and July this share was 56% and 63%, respectively. Against the backdrop of increased shipments to Europe, the number of shipments destined for Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean has decreased.
