Russia has not yet received a response from Sweden on Nord Stream

ZURICH, Oct. 14 — PRIME. The Russian Embassy in Stockholm has not yet received an official response from the Swedish authorities to the appeal of Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin concerning the investigation of the terrorist attacks on the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines, the diplomatic mission told RIA Novosti.

“At the moment, the embassy has not received an official response from the Swedish side,” the embassy said.

The representative of the press service of the government of Sweden, Jenny Ryderstedt, previously told RIA Novosti that on October 6, the head of the transitional government of the country, Magdalena Andersson, received a letter from Mishustin with a request to involve the Russian authorities and the Gazprom company in the investigation being carried out by the competent authorities of the kingdom.

Andersson stated that Sweden does not intend to allow the Russian Federation to investigate the terrorist attacks on Nord Stream due to the preservation of “data confidentiality as part of the preliminary investigation.” At the same time, she emphasized that Russia is free to conduct inspections and analyzes of the pipeline.

The attacks took place on September 26 at once on two Russian export gas pipelines to Europe – Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2. Germany, Denmark and Sweden do not rule out targeted sabotage. The Nord Stream operator Nord Stream AG reported that the state of emergency on gas pipelines was unprecedented and it was impossible to estimate the timing of repairs. The Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation initiated a case on an act of international terrorism after the damage to the Nord Stream gas pipelines.

Danish Foreign Minister Jeppe Kofod announced the government’s determination to refuse Russia’s participation in the investigation of the sabotage and the identification of those responsible.

As the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated, only if Russia is involved in the investigation of terrorist attacks can it be considered reliable and objective.
