Russians are more likely to use video calling apps for personal purposes

MOSCOW, 18 Oct – PRIME. About 73% of Russians use mobile applications for video calls for personal purposes, 27% for work, 13% for educational purposes, RIA Novosti was told in the press service of Roskachestvo.

“According to a survey by Roskachestvo, 73% of respondents use mobile applications for video calls for personal purposes, 27% for work, 13% for educational purposes,” the message says (respondents were offered a multiple choice option). At the same time, the majority uses applications at least twice a week: 29.8% 1-2 times a week and 22.6% daily, 17.9% 1 time per month and 15.5% 1-2 times a quarter.

The experts relied on the results of testing, which was attended by 80 respondents – 5 users for each platform (iOS, Android). In total, applications were evaluated according to 133 criteria. The most popular mobile applications for video conferencing included Telegram and seven services for organizing video meetings – Skype, Salyut, Jazz (SberJazz), Yandex.Telebridge, VK Calls: unlimited communication, Mail.ru video calls, ” ICQ – video calls, chats” and Zoom Cloud Meetings.

In the ranking of mobile applications for iOS video calls, VK Calls was in first place, Zoom Cloud Meetings was in second, Telegram was in third, Skype was in fourth, ICQ — video calls, chats was in fifth, Yandex. Teleconference”, on the seventh – “Salut, Jazz”, on the eighth – “Video calls Mail.ru”.

At the same time, in the ranking for Android video calls, VK Calls: Unlimited Communication is in first place, Zoom Cloud Meetings is in second, Yandex.Telebridge is in third, Telegram is in fourth, Skype is in fifth, and “Salute, Jazz”, on the seventh – “ICQ – video calls, chats”, on the eighth – “Mail.ru video calls”. The top 3 most functional apps for Android and iOS included VK Calls: Unlimited Communication, Zoom Cloud Meetings and Telegram.

At the same time, the experts outlined some comments on the presence of trackers – a part of the application designed to collect data about the user or his actions. So, on Android, Mail.ru Video Calls has the most tracking trackers of analytical media giants. They do not have trackers “Salyut, Jazz” and “Yandex.Telebridge”. And in their privacy policies, only “ICQ – video calls, chats” and Telegram indicated the terms for processing and storing personal data. At the same time, the first of them is the only one of those studied that does not transfer data to third parties, the rest are transferred – but only for the implementation of activities.
