MOSCOW, 7 Oct – PRIME. The UK could face a power outage in the winter if there is no supply of Russian energy resources, Reuters reported, citing the country’s energy system operator National Grid.
Media: France faces problems with the production of products due to energy prices
According to the company, there are several scenarios for the development of the situation. First, systematic three-hour blackouts at “predetermined periods” throughout the day to ensure the overall safety and integrity of the power supply system throughout Britain. “This decision will reduce consumption by five percent,” National Grid noted.
Secondly, the British authorities will use additional coal-fired stations to generate about two gigawatts of energy. This scenario, the company emphasized, is possible in the absence of raw materials supplies from France, the Netherlands and Belgium.
Energy regulator Ofgem previously reported an 80% rise in electricity costs since October. At the same time, the average marginal bill of households for the year will exceed 3,500 pounds.
