Steam continues to hit 1 billion monthly active players

Personally, I think Steam is the best that players could get in the 21st century, and while the Epic Games Store is creating a better place for players and developers, it will be really hard to undermine the foundations that have been hardened for many years. This is shown by the statistics which will probably continue to grow every year.

In the official roundup of 2018, Valve allowed us to take a look at a collection of information on what’s most important – the platform’s popularity. Although its resources are impressive anyway (already 30,000 games are on offer!), But not as large as the fact that, based on last year’s data, an average of 47 million users used Steam every day. This number grows to a whole 90 million, but on a monthly basis, which shows us an interesting trend anyway.

It seems that more than half of the players are really familiar with the platform and use it practically every day. Of course, this result was probably added to the default login to the application after system startup, combined with remembering the password and login. However, the record of concurrently logged in users from the beginning of 2018 remained unchanged and is still 18.5 million. Here, however, the platform fell, because from that day this number is falling and this month it fluctuates around 17.5 million.

By the way, it looks like Steam is most popular in North America, Western Europe, and Asia, respectively, where it has made the biggest jump in recent years. The language, however, remained unchanged with an evident dominance of English (38%), although Chinese is equally high (21%).
