Take a look at Ascento Pro. This robot looks like a folded bicycle

Were it not for the title, surely most of you, with an emphasis on those who are interested in bikes, would have noticed at first glance in the Ascento Pro not a robot, but a small folding bike in the middle of the frame. Let’s put aside appearances, however, because the Ascento Pro robot, as the latest work of Ascento Robotics, is a piece of advanced technology that has developed the capabilities of the Ascento 2 robot.

The Ascento Pro robot has significantly developed compared to the original

“Extend” is a great term for the Ascento Pro, because this self-balancing, two-footed robot with two wheels can do exactly the same as the Ascento 2, but is able to do it better and faster. It also has one unique feature, but in fact, it relies on its predecessor more than you might think. Like him, the Ascento Pro can stand up from a rollover, or stay balanced when riding over bumps.

Created by a team of engineering students at the Swiss research institute ETH Zurich, the Ascento Pro features two foldable legs, each equipped with a hub motor wheel. Thanks to this configuration, it can cope with driving on many surfaces and in the event of encountering an obstacle in the form of, for example, stairs, it is able to jump from one to the other while climbing. There is no problem with the descent.

In relation to the original, the Ascento Pro is able to boast not only a partial, but also a fully autonomous way of working, thanks to LiDAR, on-board cameras and LED headlights. It is even able to locate the system-specific charging pole onto which it drops your upper body to connect to the charging port on the underside. On the capabilities side, it boasts larger wheels, a maximum speed of 12 km / h, not 8 km / h, and a durability of around eight hours (not 90 minutes like the Ascento 2) on a single charge.
