Tata Motors wants to integrate blockchain solutions

Indian car maker Tata Motors wants to integrate blockchain solutions into its internal processes as part of a newly launched startup program.

The company has launched a program called “Tata Motors AutoMobility Collaboration Network 2.0”, which intends to develop a number of industry-related products, including artificial intelligence and blockchain-based solutions. The technology will be applied in various aspects of the automotive industry, including the parking market, demand prediction algorithm and real-time fuel quality monitoring.

Commenting on the initiative, Shailesh Chandra, president of electric mobility business and corporate strategy at Tata Motors, said:

“Today, almost every segment of the auto industry is required to drive its own innovation. […] In the current age of uncertainty and the speed of change, the effort to identify supply solutions will have to be driven both by internal initiatives and by collaboration with external partners. ”

Automotive industry leaders adopt blockchain

Blockchain has been widely adopted in the automotive industry, including by some of the world’s leading car manufacturers. At the end of August, blockchain solutions company PlatOn created a platform for storing data and calculating the price of used cars at Beijing Mercedes-Benz Sales Service.

In the same month, Volvo Cars, owned by the Chinese car group Geely, produced cobalt electric cars monitored on the blockchain. The project aimed to demonstrate that their electric vehicles are not based on minerals from conflict zones or child labor exploitation.
