The CorePrio utility doubled the performance of the Ryzen Threadripper 2990X

While there is a race between AMD and Intel currently for the greatest number of processor cores, both games and programs often do not even know what to do with them. Windows also has a problem with delegating the most demanding tasks to the currently highest clocked cores, so it is difficult to use all 64 threads of Ryzen Threadripper 2990X. However, it is not impossible, although it will not do without additional CorePrio software.

The kernel of it appeared in the minds of the Level1Techs authors as they debated the performance regression experienced by Threadripper in one of their blogs. They mention there that programs like Adobe Premiere, Renderer Indigo, 7-zip and games using Nvidia drivers “saw” a number of paths with varying degrees of success. After an in-depth investigation, Wendell concluded that it was enough to take a single thread and assign it to a given program using the task manager, which improves performance as much as it does on Linux.

Therefore, testers met with Jeremy Collake to create a tool called CorePrio. There is a “NUMA Dissociater” checkbox in it, which effectively eliminates the inconvenience by automating thread modifications to the requirements. If independent developers were able to do so, then we are left to wait for a move from AMD, who will agree with Microsoft to make a fix at the kernel level to make the processor sweat a seventh sweat.
