The once disgraced Telegram messenger is rapidly gaining popularity in the wake of the WhatsApp user agreement scandal and is becoming an even more attractive communication application thanks to new opportunities.
The most important feature of the latest release was the innovative function of transferring correspondence from other messengers, in particular from the same WhatsApp and Line and KakaoTalk services . However, it is not yet known whether the list of applications that support chat import will be expanded in the future. The new feature is already available to users of Telegram version 7.4 for iOS and will appear on other platforms in the near future.
The developers have added other interesting features to the messenger. In addition to chat messages, you can now delete call history, created groups for all participants, and even secret chats from the list. Also, there were additional settings for adjusting the volume for each of the chat participants. The creators of Telegram have not forgotten about the long-standing claims of users against Internet scammers: the messenger now allows you to send complaints to suspicious channels and groups posing as official representations of well-known organizations or people.
It is worth noting that against the background of the massive churn of users from WhatsApp , the Telegram audience at the end of January 2021 increased by 25 million subscribers, and the total number of people using the messenger around the world has already exceeded half a billion people.
