The premiere of the Radeon RX 6600. We waited a long time for this AMD graphics card, and it is not there

AMD has finally officially revealed its budget, weakest graphics card of the current generation RDNA2 for “low-middle” personal computers. We are talking about the Radeon RX 6600 model, which was indirectly announced for the first time in January this year. Price? It is said that $ 329, or PLN 1,300, but in Polish stores you can get it for over PLN 3,000.

Premiera Radeon RX 6600

The AMD Radeon RX 6600 reached for the Navi 23 graphics processor with 1792 stream processors, which is 256 cores less than the full GPU and thus the one that drives the Radeon RX 6600 XT card. Fortunately, the title of “RDNA2’s weakest card” does not equal the low level of VRAM. Contrary to appearances, there is a lot of it, which is a good indication of how the card gets old.

The Radeon RX 6600 received the same amount of VRAM as the more expensive version, because 8 GB GDDR6 based on a 14 Gb / s chip. These were, however, paired on a less impressive, 128-bit bus, which, combined with 32 MB Infinity Cache, provided 224 GB / s of bandwidth.

The cuts to the RX 6600 XT can be seen primarily on the clock side, because the Radeon RX 6600 has a 315 MHz lower base clock and a 98 MHz lower Boost clock. This, in turn, translated into a lower TBW, from 160 to 132 watts, which compared to the weakest NVIDIA card, the RTX 3060, provided an advantage perhaps not in all games, but significantly exceeded the GeForce in terms of performance “per watt”.
