The Russians were told how not to fall for the tricks of scammers in the network

MOSCOW, 16 Oct – PRIME. Recently, there has been an increase in the popularity of a type of phishing among scammers, which applies to those who use Google accounts. Tatyana Glazacheva, CEO of CloudPayments, told RT about this.

Fraudsters have become more likely to act on behalf of employees of the Central Bank

According to her, attackers, using Google accounts compromised on the network and standard Google Drive functions, share with users specially created documents that contain links to resources with malware. Then these accounts receive push notifications on behalf of Google in the mail, as well as on mobile devices, that access to the file has been shared with them.

According to her, the very fact that the sender is Google, significantly increases the credibility of the message. At the same time, the name of the document shared by the attacker has a very “tempting” theme.

“For example, “You have received an impressive monetary compensation” (sometimes the subject of the letter is related to some hot news). After clicking on the link, the document itself opens (as a rule, this is a document in one of the formats: .pdf, .excel, .doc ), which directly contains links to malicious resources,” she said.

The expert stressed that the goal, as a rule, is an attempt to either get a real “login-password” combination from an account, or infect a computer with a virus.

She also gave some advice on how not to fall for the tricks of scammers. According to her, you should not follow dubious, strange, incomprehensible links; you can not open letters and accept meetings from strangers. You need to go to “Settings”, go to the “Notifications” tab and uncheck “Receive email alerts for all changes related to items in Google Drive”.

“Be vigilant and remember that it is unlikely that someone will just want to transfer money to you and will persistently remind you of this,” Glazacheva concluded.
