Roskomnadzor restricted access to the SoundCloud music service

MOSCOW, 1 Oct — PRIME. Roskomnadzor, at the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office, restricted access to the SoundCloud music service website page, follows from the department’s registry to check the blocking of pages and resources in Russia.

Article 15.3 of the Law “On Information”, which regulates the restriction of access to data containing calls for riots and participation in unsanctioned actions, extremism, as well as false information, is indicated as the basis for entering the site into the register.

“This legislative norm regulates the procedure for restricting access to sites on the Internet that contain information calling for mass riots, extremist activities or participation in mass (public) events held in violation of the established procedure, unreliable socially significant information disseminated under the guise of credible reports,” the registry’s website said in a statement.

“Roskomnadzor organizes the restriction of access to such information based on the request of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation or his deputies,” the registry website explains.
