The RX 480 can be effectively converted into the RX 580!

After weeks of waiting, we finally got the premiere of new graphics from AMD’s RX500 series. Finally, we were also able to find out about the differences from the previous version. It turns out that there are not many of them since the RX480 can be successfully flashed to the RX580!

The person who gave the prescription for this treatment comes from the TechPowerUp forum. It had the XFX RX 480 and thanks to the Sapphire RX 580 BIOS it managed to “change the generation”.

The new BIOS has slightly higher clocks for GPU and RAM. The XFX RX 480 now operates as the Nitro + Limited Edition RX 580, which means it has clocks of 1411 MHz for the core and 8400 MHz for memory. Boost adds 123 and 400 MHz respectively. The original XFX card has a dual BIOS, so the user could easily play with various changes. If your graphics do not have it, I would be rather careful with any BIOS changes.

According to the performance report, after flashing, the card is a bit hotter but still maintains a reasonable temperature, i.e. it does not exceed 80 ° C. The voltage is 1.188V. As a result, the user gained about 9% of gaming performance. Probably such changes are possible on any RX 480 or even RX 470. So if you have dual BIOS in your graphics then you can play such things.
