The White House urged to reduce dependence on foreign oil producers

WASHINGTON, Oct 5 – PRIME The US should be less dependent on OPEC+ and other foreign oil producers. This opinion was expressed on Wednesday by the coordinator for strategic communications at the National Security Council, John Kirby.

“We absolutely agree on the need to be less dependent on OPEC+ and other foreign producers of resources such as oil,” he said in an interview with Fox News.

He also clarified that one of the measures of the work of US President Joe Biden in this direction is the development of “clean energy”.

On October 5, a meeting of all the heads of OPEC+ delegations began in Vienna, the countries will try to make a final decision on a new reduction in oil production by the alliance.

A source in one of the delegations told RIA Novosti that the OPEC + countries voted to reduce oil production and will reduce it by 2 million barrels per day.

Source: OPEC + will reduce oil production by two million barrels per day

Earlier, a meeting of the OPEC+ Ministerial Monitoring Committee was held. He recommended that the alliance cut oil production by 2 million barrels per day.

OPEC+ cut oil production by 9.7 million barrels per day in May 2020 due to falling demand caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Then the terms of the agreement were repeatedly adjusted, and since August of this year, the alliance has moved to the final stage of getting out of its cuts. In October, OPEC+ adheres to the August parameters, although some countries, including due to external restrictions, have still not been able to reach their allowed production levels.

Ahead of the OPEC+ meeting, the UAE Energy Minister told reporters that the alliance will examine concerns about the state of the global economy, as a recession is one of the factors affecting demand, and on this basis will decide on the future of the deal.
