Two South Korean companies will store medical data on Longenesis blockchain platform

The Longenesis medical data market will provide its blockchain platform for obtaining consent for medical interventions at Hanshin Medipia Medical Center and Infinity Care.

The Hanshin Medipia South Korean Medical Center, located in Seoul, specializes in testing and medical examinations, and Infinity Care in personal care.

Launched in late 2017, Longenesis provides a set of modular blockchain solutions for providers of medical services, from user interfaces for interacting with patients to keeping medical records. At the same time, the company’s main focus has become technologies for automating the receipt of patient consent for medical interventions.

On the platform, the patient agrees to a specific care or participation in the study or testing. The user may withdraw the consent, while the health care provider may offer to renew, change or cancel the agreement.

The key to the success of this platform is how the system works with pharmaceutical companies and research institutes, according to Denis Bazinov, project manager for Longenesis. They can view anonymous metadata to see what information may be available. They can then offer the data owner, the patient, the opportunity to take part in testing, research, or provide their existing information for use in evaluating a drug or procedure.

Bazinov notes that this system is very different from the current standard operating procedures. In most cases, consent is processed using paper forms, and the system for updating and changing consent data is random and inconsistent. Once the data is collected, it is sold on the OTC principle, with researchers paying for bulk deliveries of information that may be unreliable or incorrectly collected.

“Our platform offers a transparent chain from patient to hospital,” said Bazinov. “We strive to make more information available to researchers who are now faced with problems of quantity and quality.”

In February of this year, it became known that Bitfury, MDW and Longenesis will develop
blockchain platform for sharing and protecting medical images and diagnostic information, such as x-ray scan and computed tomography results. In the spring of information appeared, Bitfury and Longenesis work together
over the creation of a blockchain system for managing user consent in the healthcare industry.

Another South Korean hospital Gil Medical Center secured in April
supporting Longenesis and Insilico Medicine to develop a blockchain platform that stores various medical data.
