Vitaly Buterin suggested using Bitcoin Cash to solve the problem of Ethereum scalability

Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, suggested temporarily using Bitcoin Cash blockchain to process data and solve the problem of scalability of Ethereum’s main network.

“In the long run (more than a year), we will switch to Ethereum 2.0, which will process up to 10 MB of data per second, which is much more than in any existing blockchain. In the short term, we can start using existing blockchains, especially those that offer lower per-byte commissions than Ethereum, ”said Buterin.

As advantages of Bitcoin Cash, he called sufficiently high bandwidth (32 MB in 10 minutes, that is about 53 KB per second), very low commissions and community friendliness. He also stressed that Ethereum has all the necessary tools for verifying Bitcoin Cash blocks within the network.

However, Bitcoin Cash has a drawback – the blocks in its network are issued only once every ten minutes. An alternative could be Ethereum Classic, which blocks are created every 14 seconds. However, Ethereum Classic has a low bandwidth, and it is much more difficult to verify its blocks.

The community of ethereum took the offer in hostility. One of the critics stressedthat the main problem of Bitcoin Cash is not in the rare release of blocks, but in low hash rate and centralized management. Other notedthat the Bitcoin Cash blockchain can easily undergo an attack of 51% from most existing pools.

Earlier it was reported that the zero phase of Ethereum 2.0, which activates the transition to Proof-of-Stake (PoS), should start on January 3, 2020.
