Volodin called the “ceiling” of prices for raw materials a recognition of the ineffectiveness of sanctions

MOSCOW, September 9 — PRIME. The G7 countries, when deciding to impose a “ceiling” on prices for Russian energy resources, recognize the ineffectiveness of anti-Russian sanctions, said State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin.

The expert told what will result in the “ceiling” of prices for Russian gas for Europe

“By their decision to introduce a ceiling on prices for Russian oil and gas, the G7 states recognize the ineffectiveness of the sanctions previously imposed against Russia. Washington and Brussels had to abandon the complete ban on our energy resources. An attempt to replace them failed,” the politician wrote in the Telegram messenger.

The speaker of the State Duma added that the “ceiling” of prices will become the “floor”. “The world market is not limited to seven countries. More than 80% of the world’s population does not support sanctions against Russia. The ceiling price announced by the West will become the lower bar. The market and contractual obligations will decide what the cost of energy resources will be,” the deputy said.

According to him, the G7 states without cheap Russian raw materials will not be able to continue to exploit the whole world.

“The Western model of the global economy, based on colonial principles, has outlived itself,” Volodin summed up, adding that the era of Western parasitism is over.

Earlier, the G7 states (Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Canada, the USA, France and Japan) at the summit on June 26-28 confirmed their intention to reduce dependence on Russian energy carriers and tentatively agreed to start limiting prices for them. At the beginning of July there were proposals to set the limit at half the current price. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak replied that the idea of limiting oil prices is completely absurd, Russia will not supply raw materials to those countries that support it. He added that the introduction of restrictions on Russian oil prices would destroy the market, and other producers also did not respond positively to such an initiative.
