Dramatic period for the world of work in the technological field (and not only)! Several companies have announced layoffs and restructuring due to the pandemic of COVID-19 and even relatively small realities, even if known on the Web, have had to deal with the emergency. One of the last is VSCO.
This was announced directly by the co-founder and CEO of VSCO, Joel Flory, on LinkedIn explaining that he had to fire 45 "wonderful team members" thus going from about 145 employees to one hundred. Flory explained that this decision was suffered mainly because 2020 should have been a year of investment and growth. But COVID-19 has messed up the cards on the table.
The senior executive said he wanted to take care of his staff (and also of the people he unfortunately had to lay off) by guaranteeing health coverage for another two months and monetary support. It also encouraged those who may need figures such as those who have now lost their jobs to write to society to help find new accommodation.
Flory himself wrote "I am deeply saddened by having to let go of some amazing people and I am so grateful for everything they have done for VSCO and our community".
As for the future of VSCO, Joel Flory said that this year, however, new features will be launched for both the ecosystem and the community. All aiming to encourage the sharing of creativity, to inspire and to stay in touch with people who have the same passion.
