As reported by Reuters, the Italian government has decided to encourage semiconductor manufacturers from around the world with subsidies of EUR 4 billion to build their new factories in the Italian Republic. Apparently, even the transfer of 8 billion to Intel itself was discussed.
Yesterday I informed you that, according to one of the CEOs of the giants in the market, the shortages of semiconductors were inevitable, and Europe and the USA were rightly taking initiatives to start their production on a large scale on their own premises. The European Union intends to spend EUR 15 billion to this end by 2030, and Italy will do likewise, albeit on a slightly smaller scale.
According to reports, the Italian government is to provide semiconductor companies interested in entering European areas in total as much as EUR 4 billion. It will be implemented from 2023 to 2030 and will involve 500 million zlotys of funding each year, and interestingly, according to a Reuters report, Italy was considering transferring the entire amount to Intel. Not only that, 4 billion euros was supposed to be just the beginning, because within 10 years the state was to provide the company with another 4 billion euros as part of other incentives.

However, it is difficult to say whether Intel can still decide on such cooperation with Italy, because the state is already in talks with STMicroelectronics, MEMC Electronic Materials and others. Reuters claims that negotiations with Intel are very difficult, because the American company has many demands and according to other information, it is finally to choose Germany.
