Windows 10 May 2020 Update (20H1) is ready: the latest build to testers before the debut

Microsoft announced that Windows 10 May 2020 Update (20H1), also known as Windows 10 2004, is ready for release. The company is distributing the final build (19041.207) to the Windows Insiders of the Release Preview channel, while the landing on PCs in stable form is expected for May.

If you want to get Windows 10 May 2020 Update immediately you have to go to Settings – Update and security – Windows Insider Program and sign up to get access to the Release Preview channel. Then the update will appear in the Windows Update section of the settings automatically to 50% of the subscribers, while the others will have to manually search for the downloads to download it.

Let's be clear, we are not advising you to update your PC, as although it is the latest build it may still have some problems. The latter test is designed to file the latest bugs. It should not be forgotten that in the past, even serious problems have escaped test jerseys. It is therefore always good to wait for the official distribution, indeed sometimes even a few more weeks.

As regards the new in Windows 10 May Update 2020, we refer you to this article, which summarizes the main ones. In general we will not be faced with upheavals, but a further refinement of the operating system and the introduction of some small and big innovations such as Windows Subsystem for Linux 2 or DirectX 12 Ultimate.

Finally, it is important to report that Windows Mixed Reality may not work properly for many users on the May 2020 Update. Microsoft therefore suggests to viewer owners not to download the Release Preview. "We are working on a fix that we hope to distribute in early May," concludes the company.
