The company explained at the time of the release that the update introduced a fix for a problem with some third-party Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) boot managers that could "expose the computer to a security vulnerability". In addition, within the "known issues" notes, Microsoft had reported that some users could "encounter problems while trying to restore your PC", and it was this problem – moreover already known – that convinced the company to put the release of the latest update for Windows 10 on standby.
Specifically, the company wrote:"The Reset PC feature, also called Push Button Reset, or PBR, may not work as expected. The feature may restart the system in recovery mode with the Choose an option screen, or it may restart the system to the desktop receiving the error "There was a problem with restoring your PC".
Microsoft claims that in case the problem occurs, the user must uninstall the latest update security marked with the code KB4524244 from the Update History page in the Operating System Settings. The company also warns that it is working on a corrected version of the update, in collaboration with partners whose components suffer from the problem. The corrective update is expected for "the future": Microsoft has unfortunately not given more precise indications.
