WQHD IP monitor of 27 inches and 170 Hz

This monitor was really announced at Gamescom that took place in August, but it has not been until now that ASUS has finally put it in stores, and although it is true that in Europe it is not yet available (it will be in the next few weeks), you can buy it in US stores, including of course Amazon.

ASUS ROG Strix XG279Q Features

This monitor has, as we said, a screen of 27 inch diagonal with resolution WQHD (2560 x 1440 pixels), with IPS matrix, 1 ms response time, real contrast of 1000 to 1, maximum brightness of 400 cd / m2, viewing angles of 178 degrees in both directions, 8 bit color depth and Copper 90% of the DCI-P3 color spectrum (this is 125% of the sRGB spectrum). It also has certification VESA HDR400.

Originally this monitor has 144 Hz refresh rate, but in its ASUS announcement it already said that it could be overclocked to 165 Hz. Now it is advertised as its refresh rate can be raised to 170 Hz easily by overclocking, so either they have put some improvement before launching it to the market, or they have realized that the panel can support it without problems and use it as a marketing strategy. Whether one case or another, the monitor is compatible with adaptive sync, which means it works with AMD FreeSync but it is also G-Sync compatible.

ASUS presumes that the matrix of this monitor is what they have called Fast IPS, which they say is four times faster than a conventional IPS panel (its response time is 1 ms compared to the typical 4 ms). Motion blur (or almost) with ELMB SYNC technology is also eliminated

It must be said that although the monitor is VESA HDR400 certified, we cannot expect an HDR experience that is too spectacular given the maximum brightness of 400 cd / m2 of its panel.

Finally, it should be noted that, as always, ASUS has incorporated several of its identity signs on the monitor, such as RGB lighting in the logo on the back with Aura Sync, the hologram at the base, the possibility of focusing on it, SPF counter, etc. As video inputs, by the way, the monitor has a DisplayPort 1.2 and two HDMI 2.0, plus two USB 3.0 ports and a headphone jack.

Its price, when it reaches the stores in Spain, is expected to be around 650 euros.
