10th Generation Intel Core Comet Lake-S, possible debut in April (Coronavirus permitting)

Intel Core 10th Gen "Comet Lake-S" desktop processors are expected to debut in April, this is what a slide published in the past few hours suggests unikoshardware, confirming the rumors circulated online in recent weeks.

In addition to revealing what appears to be in all respects part of an Intel document under NDA, the site publishes the first images of the new Core i5-10400 processor, mid-range model that will be equipped with 6 cores and 12 threads, thus offering a substantial improvement over the current Core i5-9400 which, as you will surely remember, does not support Intel Hyper Threading technology.

The images again confirm how Intel has changed sockets on Comet Lake-S processors that, using the new LGA1200, will not be compatible with the current ones Coffee Lake-S with LGA 1151 socket presented in October 2018. As for the specifications of the Core i5-10400, we are faced with a 6 core / 12 thread with a base frequency of 2.9 GHz, single-core boost at 4.3 GHz and all-core boost at 4 GHz. The CPU TDP it should be 65W, like all the "non-K" models, the variants with unlocked multiplier will instead be set to 125W.

Returning instead to the slide above, in addition to confirming the flagship Core i9, i7 and i5 models – among them the 10-core Core i9-10900K spotted recently on 3DMark – we have no other indications except the embargo date indicated between 13 April and 26 June. Given the current emergency related to Coronavirus we can not know if these dates will be respected or not, in case the emergency falls, we assume that Intel may make an announcement in the second half of April (perhaps with the top model), subsequently presenting the entire Core 10th gen line at Taipei Computex 2020, still scheduled from June 2nd to 6th.
