MSI MPG X570 Gaming Edge WiFi - Review

The MSI MPG X570 Gaming Edge WiFi is an ATX format motherboard for second and third generation AMD Ryzen processors, which aims to offer gamers all the new features introduced by the X570 chipset and high-level hardware features, maintaining an elegant aesthetic without too many RGB LEDs.

MSI X570 Gaming Edge WiFi Motherboard Review 2021

Among the main features of the MSI MPG X570 Gaming Edge WiFi we find the PCI-Express 4.0 support provided by the X570 chipset, four DIMM slots with DDR4 RAM support up to 4400 MHz (OC) e Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3168 Wi-Fi. To complete the technical equipment offered there are five PCIe 4.0 slots, three x1 and two x16, two M.2 slots (one connected to the chipset, the other to the CPU), six SATA III ports, Gigabit LAN managed by a Realtek 8111H controller, and 7.1 audio (Realtek ALC1220 controller).

Top 10 Question Asked About MSI MPG X570 Gaming Edge WiFi On Amazon By Customer Before they Buying

Question 1: What is maximum limit of ram mhz?

Answer: 128g memory is the max

Answer 2: This motherboard has the X570 chipset, which supports RAM speeds up to 3600MHz in 1:1 IF mode (Ryzen infinity fabric runs at half the RAM speed), and 4400MHz+ in 2:1 IF mode. Basically running RAM at over 3600 MHz results in Ryzen’s infinity fabric running at only a quarter of the speed of the RAM. A lower infinity fabric speed can result in increased core latency (bad), but the higher clocked RAM will still provide more Memory Bandwidth (very good).

So, you can run 3600MHz RAM and the IF will run at 1800MHz, 3200MHz=1600MHz, etc. But if you run RAM at 4000MHz, the IF will run at only 1000MHz. Most people tend to agree that for its price, performance, and inter core latency, 3600MHz RAM is the “sweet spot” for 3rd gen Ryzen CPUs.

Sorry for being so technical haha. Hope this answers your question.

Question 2: Does this motherboard have an RGB header?

Answer: Yes

Question 3: Does the MSI MPG X570 GAMING EDGE WIFI Motherboard (AMD AM4, DDR4, PCIe 4.0, SATA 6Gb/s, M.2, USB 3.2 Gen 2, AC Wi-Fi 5, HDMI, ATX) come with m.2?

Answer: Yes, it supports m.2

Question 4: Does the MSI MPG X570 GAMING EDGE WIFI Motherboard have Bluetooth 4 or 5.0?

Answer: The Total amount is 4

Question 5: Would the MSI MPG X570 GAMING EDGE WIFI Motherboard board be good for a 3600x?

Answer: Yes, (These boards are catered to the entire 3X series, and totally backwards compatible.)

Question 6: Will the MSI MPG X570 GAMING EDGE WIFI Motherboard board fit in a h500i?

Answer: Yes, it can.

Question 7: I have msi x570 gaming edge wifi, chipset go up to 76-77c during gaming. is this normal?

Answer: Yes, depending on what you have for cooling solutions.

Question 8: Where can I find a list of compatible cps? And what is the cheapest one?

Answer: Don’t buy this board and buy the Cheapest CPU – that is just mean to a motherboard like this one, it is an AM4 search Ryzen AM4 pick the one one in your price range.

Question 9: Can I use my Ryzen 5 1600 on this while I save up for a 3000 series one?

Answer: Pretty sure it means 128gb total for all 4 slots

Question 10: How do you make sure that this board is working? plugged in the 24pin, 8pin ps, power sw cable to the mobo. no power?

Answer: There are 4 LED’S just above the 24 pin that should light up when you fire it up. Check page 39 of the manual for the debug lights.

Customer answer: Did you plug in the 4 pin cpu cable also, some PSU’s use to not have this cable so I always get a modular PSU, recheck ram and CPU are seated, check make sure your BIOS is correct. are any of the debug lights on on the MOBO?

if everything is good could try to reset the bios at the mobo by shorting out JBAT1 (shows how in manuel). I have had to flash the BIOS also with a USB drive one time, MOBO was unresponsive. Other than that its been a good board. So really all I know to do is check make sure all devices are plugged in correct and try reset BIOS as last resort.

MSI MPG X570 GAMING EDGE WIFI Motherboard (AMD AM4, DDR4, PCIe 4.0, SATA 6Gb/s, M.2, USB 3.2 Gen 2, AC Wi-Fi 5, HDMI, ATX)

Best Review of the MSI MPG X570 GAMING EDGE WIFI Motherboard on Amazon 1: Feature filled, with plenty of I/O at a price that is difficult to beat, this board really takes the cake in many ways. It replaced an Asrock X570 Extreme4 due to better compatibility with the ARGB in my case and the better aesthetics for my build. I am extremely happy with the choice I made, and would do it again. The BIOS is also a bit more user friendly in my opinion over the Asrock, and the RAM is much more stable when overclocking as the Asrock wouldn’t even let me get to the rated 3200 Mhz on my Corsair Vengeance Pro sticks at its XMP profile. With this board it wasn’t an issue at all, and it actually lets me hit 3733Mhz with looser timings without issue as well. If you are looking for a good board to put your shiny new Ryzen 3000 series CPU in, look no further!

Best Review of the MSI MPG X570 GAMING EDGE WIFI Motherboard on Amazon 2: This is my first build (Done Oct. 2019) in 25+ years. As a retired senior I wanted an easy stable build that had good future proofing. I had this system assembled and booted in a few hours with a Ryzen 5-2600, 500GB SSD, Corsair Vengeance LPX (2X8) DDR4 3600 and RX 570-8GB for video.Power supply was a Corsair RM850 Gold. System booted first time with a clean install of Windows 10.

I had seen possible WiFi problems from other posts so I ran a temp CAT 5 cable for all the updates (software and BIOS). I am not a big gamer however I did DL the last 2 Tomb Raider games (played some years ago) and found this system handled them easily with video setting on MAX. I did have sound stop after a windows update however I quick check on the MSI site showed newer sound drivers.

I updated the drives and sound works great again. It has been a solid build and trouble free for the past 6 months. I should add that I don’t care about OC or RGB lighting. I wanted a system to edit B-Ray videos from my Canon camera along with normal Office,Web and light gaming use.

Best Review of the MSI MPG X570 GAMING EDGE WIFI Motherboard on Amazon 3: Wow! Im no gamer, I like to tinker! I know this board is way overkill for what I do, but I like the best. This board is by far the best I’ve had. I decided this build would be crazy for me. It handles my new 3700X Ryzen 7, MSI 1660TI, and Dell 34 inch curved monitor, etc.

I have 1 Samsung 500gb NVME SSD for OS (has room for 3) 2 Samsung 500gb 3.5 SSD for storage and 1 is empty. This board is loaded with features that im not really familiar with. It boots extremely fast, looks great and is just fantastic. Sure, at $375 is costly but, I like the best and I like to tinker. I have not yet begun to explore everything about this board but it sure is a pretty piece! Did I say I like the best and love to tinker. This board in itself, keeps me busy. Awesome board, no problems, great price!

Bad Customer Review:

This motherboard has some serious compatibility problems with Ryzen 3600 CPUs. You’ll see it recommended on various websites and praised, and then you’ll see posts about endless issues. Never booting again from sleep mode, frying RAM slots, incompatibility issues. It is an affordable motherboard, and the software it has isn’t that bad. However, you get what you pay for.

Unfortunately, it has died. It survived from late July ’19 until last night. Another issue is often these are unable to wake from sleep mode (disabling sleep mode in Windows helped resolve this issue, it takes about 5 minutes to do within Windows), then stopped passing POST, and then one of the dual channel RAM slots just up and died, crippling my PC down to 1 stick of RAM. Now I’m buying another motherboard – mine usually last until they’re out of date. I take excellent care of my rigs and I’ve never had such issues before and I’m deeply disappointed. What happened, MSI? This is about as half-baked as possible, a quick release to make a swift profit. Software (Command Center) seems great, but the execution was poor and MSI won’t replace the motherboard. The BIOS is unfortunately very buggy, so be careful changing things within BIOS, as it’s a straight-up gamble sometimes.

Conclusions

The MSI MPG X570 Gaming Edge WiFi it is proposed to the public as a solution for those looking for a motherboard that allows you to exploit the potential of the new X570 chipset and create a medium-high end configuration, reaching a good compromise between price and features offered.

This motherboard costs, the moment we write this review, about 215 euros (you can buy it on Amazon). A much more reasonable figure than that required for other higher-end X570 motherboards and closer to competitive prices as well. Motherboards with Z390 chipsets still cost a few tens of euros less with the same characteristics, but as we have already told you several times the innovations brought by the X570 chipset have their price.

MSI X570 Gaming Edge WiFi

As we have seen from the test results, this MSI MPG X570 Gaming Edge WiFi does not stand out from the other motherboards present in the comparison, but it performs well both in productivity and in video games. It is a motherboard that manages to meet the needs of those who want to assemble a performance all-rounder PC, able to handle tasks ranging from video editing to streaming, but which, to keep costs down, targets processors such as the Ryzen 5 3600X or Ryzen 7 3700X.

In conclusion, if you need a versatile solution and you’re building a medium-high end computer that can take full advantage of the new PCI-Express 4.0 standard, the MSI MPG X570 Gaming Edge WiFi is definitely a motherboard to consider. If instead you plan not to buy a PCIe 4.0 SSD today or in the future, you could opt for an X470 or B450 motherboard, perfectly compatible with the new Ryzen 3000 (as long as you update the BIOS first) and that would save you more money , to invest perhaps in a more powerful video card or in a larger storage unit, depending on your needs.
