3nm and up to 40 cores. Apple’s upcoming SoC will bet on two matrices

According to the latest report of the Information website, future Apple SoC systems can be briefly described as “3nm and even 40 cores”. This is obviously nothing official, but we can be sure that Apple and TSMC have been working together for a long time to take the power of their chips to an even higher level.

Apple’s upcoming SoCs will first bring us to the MCM era, then take the associated power to new heights

Going into detail, these new chips, combining primarily a central processing unit (CPU), graphics processing unit (GPU) and a shared RAM deck, will consist of two silicon arrays. These, in turn, will allow Apple to achieve completely new heights of performance.

Thanks to the MCM (Multi-Chip-Module) design, you can not only significantly improve the production process (which is to be the 5nm upgrade), creating two smaller cores instead of one larger one), but also make it much easier to adjust their capabilities. Apparently, these unique SoCs from Apple will be found in subsequent MacBook Pro models and Mac desktops.

We will probably see it in a year, but it will only be a foretaste of what Apple will prepare for 2023 (according to rumors). Then the company, as part of the third generation of its systems, is to focus on a 3nm production process and the presence of not two or even four matrices in one SoC.

Purely in theory, this means raising the CPU cores to 40 and the GPU to well over a hundred. So the future looks in interesting colors, because this type of SoC is to go not only to Mac computers, but also to iPhone smartphones.
