83% of GPUs sold during the third quarter were from Nvidia

Nvidia had a great first half of the year, significantly dominating the dedicated graphics card market, and this appears to be repeating in the second half, as 83% of the GPUs sold during the third quarter were from Nvidia, while only 17% were AMD.

The information comes from the firm Jon Peddie Research, who indicated that 10.9% more dedicated graphics cards were sold than in the second quarter, and that adding to the integrated GPUs the GPUs market is shared by 20% for Nvidia, 62% for Intel, and 18% for AMD, showing growth in the green and red brands, and a decrease in the blue brand compared to the previous quarter.

Returning to the dedicated GPU market, AMD and Nvidia shared the same percentage as in the second quarter, so this advantage of Nvidia of selling practically 5 GPUs for every GPU that AMD sells is becoming something continuous in time even with the complete RX 6000 line on the market. It will be interesting to see who Intel takes more of the market after entering the market next year with its Arc GPUs, since Nvidia fans seem to be much more loyal than AMD’s in the graphics card section, so the Reds will have to rethink their marketing strategy and product positioning to stay competitive with three different brands in the market.

What do you think about Nvidia’s great dominance in the dedicated GPU market? Do you think it will continue even after the arrival of Intel?
