A video shows the Ryzen 9 5950X running smoothly on an A320 motherboard, still we don’t recommend it

A youtuber has shared very interesting information about the AMD Ryzen 5000 CPU and AMD A320 chipset motherboards, which are the cheapest. Just a few days ago we talked about the fact that some motherboard suppliers They decided to start offering support for Ryzen 5000 on 300 series motherboards and AMD confirmed that they were working on it.

Thanks to TechEpiphany, we have a video where we can see an A320 motherboard with a high-end Ryzen.

The CPU is top of the range, the 16-core AMD Ryzen 9 5950X which from what we can see runs perfectly fine on a $60 A320 motherboard, proving that AMD should allow Zen 3 and Zen 3+ support in their first generation Ryzen motherboards, although not with all CPUs…

There has been a lot of debate about whether or not AMD should allow Ryzen 5000 CPU support on older platforms such as its first-generation 300-series boards, including the X370, B350, and A320. Consumers were vocal when AMD released Ryzen 5000 CPUs asking AMD to allow motherboard manufacturers to open up support for Ryzen 5000 CPUs on 400-series motherboards, which, at the time, were only compatible with Ryzen 5000-series motherboards. 500.

The Ryzen 9 5950X will run perfect on A320 motherboards

But for 300 series motherboards, the battle continues as motherboard vendors have not released support for Ryzen 5000s on AMD’s orders. Although today there are certain boards that received a BIOS update to support AMD’s Ryzen 5000 CPUs, but those BIOSes were quickly removed.

Why don’t we recommend it?

The point is that the 300 Series motherboards and more than one A320 are not prepared for these CPUs, or at least for the top of the range, many of those A320 don’t even have a heatsink for the VRMs… Apart from missing many technologies, that you may or may not use, the amount of memory to host BIOS support is not enough, this causes manufacturers to cut options in their BIOS and many times they resemble those of a few years ago, which we managed with only the keyboard.

Outside of all this, we already knew from the beginning that 300 series motherboards could work with Ryzen 500 CPUs, AMD promised compatibility to all AM4 CPUs regardless of the motherboard used and this was never fulfilled due to self-interest creating limitations via software.

That is why after thousands of complaints, the company is thinking of allowing its partners to re-release the BIOS to support these CPUs.
