AMD is preparing the Radeon RX 6900 XTX to fight the RTX 3090?

Certain @CyberCatPunk, unknown in the “leak” scene, shared on his Twitter a slide from the alleged official presentation, according to which AMD is about to launch the Radeon RX 6900 XTX to finally face the GeForce RTX 3090. However, this rumor seems to be either false or outdated.

If AMD launches the Radeon RX 6900 XTX, the only difference between it and the current version of the XT LC will be cooling

Let’s start with the fact that the Radeon RX 6900 XTX could actually make its debut on the market, but it turned out that AMD prefers to make the Navi 21 XTXH core, which was supposed to hit it, an exclusive GPU for the most efficient models of the RX 6900 XT and the water-cooled Radeon RX 6900 XT LC. This GPU has the same specifications as the base Navi 21, but achieves higher core and memory clock speeds.

In the slide above, we can see that this alleged planned model would have the same FP32 computing performance as the Radeon RX 6900 XT LC (24.93 TFLOPs), thanks to a boost clock of 2435 MHz and a higher transfer in the case of VRAM, because not 16 Gb / s and 18 Gb / s. In other words, AMD already offers the card mentioned in the title, but in a water-cooled version.

So there is little chance that AMD will expand the RX 6900 XT family with another, third model (identical to the water-cooled one), and even if the company does this, probably none of us will find this model on sale.
