AMD restrictions on Zen 3 support could put motherboard makers in legal trouble

After the problems related to the BIOS sizes in the first AM4 motherboards, which prevented storing new microcodes due to lack of size in their small 16MB, several manufacturers changed their bios chips for 32MB chips in new models, and some They even promised compatibility with all future Ryzen AM4s. This promise was thwarted by AMD, who indicated that future Ryzen Zen 3s will only be compatible with B550 and X570, ruining manufacturers' promises.

If, in the end, the manufacturers who made this promise end up unsupported, they could be denounced by the buyers for misleading advertising, beyond the fault of the manufacturer itself. If the company promised one thing, it has to fulfill it, and if not, abide by the consequences.

What we think:

Based on previous history, AMD most likely refers to the minimum support that manufacturers have to give, and not to restrictions that say "they have to endure this, nothing more and nothing less." In this way, there will surely be a manufacturer that provides updates to their motherboards with older chipsets, and forces other manufacturers to also do so in order not to be bad for their customers, as happened with the Ryzen 3000 based on Zen 2, and This will allow the new Ryzen Zen 3 to be used on 400 Series motherboards, or perhaps even 300 Series. This is only speculation, although it is quite a possible scenario if we base ourselves on what has already happened with the current generation. It is not confirmed, so do not take it as it.

What do you think? Do you think the motherboard manufacturers will support Zen 3 on the B450 and X470 motherboards?
