AMD Ryzen 3000 Mattise. X570 chipset and PCIe 4.0 support

AMD’s confirmation of the third generation of Ryzen processors provided us with a lot of information, but it also somewhat contradicted rumors that made them real competition beats. Either way, let’s take a look at what the company had to say about the AMD Ryzen 3000 “Mattise”, the X570 chipset, and PCIe 4.0 support.

By far the most important information was that they will debut in mid-2019, which indicates the official presentation of the most efficient models at the Computex fair. It was also confirmed that Ryzen 3000 will be based on a combination of 7nm technological process and Zen 2 architecture, which is already on the market, but only as part of the EPYC Rome series. AMD’s CEO Dr. Lisa Su during the official presentation. As she mentioned then, the comparison concerned 8-core and 16-thread systems. However, we do not know if this is the maximum that the company will decide and (honestly) I really hope for it, because, for example, the previously disclosed specification would shake the entire market. AMD even tried to compare the Cinebench R15 against the Intel Core i9-9900K. In this comparison and on basic clocks, the new Ryzen achieved 2057 points at 133.4W, while the Intel chip already reached 2040 points, but consuming as much as 179.9 watts.

We can be sure that the models from the Ryzen 3000 family will be compatible with existing platforms, using the AM4 stand all the time. However, AMD decided to create another chipset (the successor of the X470), i.e. the X570, which will offer support for the PCIe 4.0 interface. It will therefore be the first consumer platform supporting this standard, which, however, will not be needed (at least this year).
