AMD Ryzen, a new microcode with over 100 improvements in November

A month should come next new microcode by AMD (AGESA 1.0.0.4) which should complement over 100 improvements intended to better express the Ryzen CPUs, in particular the new 3000 series.

This was said by Eric van Beurden, marketing director of MSI, during the broadcast MSI Insider Show on Youtube. Remember that microcode represents the code that allows the CPU to function and interface with the other components of the computer. It is a kind of firmware for your microprocessor, and it is integrated into BIOSes distributed by motherboard manufacturers.

Van Beurden explained that AMD will begin to distribute the new microcode from next week: first it will pass from the hands of the companies that compile the BIOS, then from those of the motherboard manufacturers for the implementation of the various customizations. It will probably take a couple of weeks of optimization, in order to adapt it to the various models.

After that, distribution should begin. For the moment it is generally expected to arrive in November, so it is possible that within the first two weeks some beta versions will appear online. At the moment the exact nature of the more than 100 microcode interventions is unclear, but on the one hand many will be corrections, on the other there will also be room for new features and improvements.

In the meantime, MSI and the other companies in the sector BIOSes are based on AGESA 1.0.0.3ABBA for X570, X470 and B450 motherboards.

The new firmware goes to intervene on the Ryzen 3000 boost algorithm, previously suffering from a problem that could lead to lower operating frequencies than those advertised. Further details on the anomaly and the corrective can be found in this article.

Are you looking for an X570 motherboard for the new AMD CPUs? Difficult choice given the prices, but we suggest the MPG X570 GAMING EDGE WIFI, complete with everything and among the most “affordable” now on the market.
