AMD Software Adrenalin Edition 22.9.1 ready for the open beta of CoD: MWII

AMD has released the drivers AMD Software Adrenalin Edition 22.9.1 with support for the open beta of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. In parallel, the company makes it known that it is working with the developers of Call of Duty: Warzone to resolve the stuttering experienced by players in the Caldera map, a problem that will therefore be fixed soon.

For the rest, this release does not include any particular news except for what concerns Enhanced Sync. AMD ha fixed a problem so the feature could cause an intermittent black screen during gameplay or video playback using extended displays. Also, when exiting games with the Tab, there is less chance of experiencing a crash when Enhanced Sync is on.

AMD Enhanced Sync allows you to play games without limiting the frame rate, but at the same time works to reduce the so-called screen tearing. In practice, the solution tries to eliminate the two “problems” of playing with V-Sync “on” or “off”.

“To do this, when the monitor needs to synchronize with a new game frame, the most recently completed frame is displayed on the screen while the older unnecessary frames are deleted, which also leads to better responsiveness and reduced input lag. “.

To demonstrate the effectiveness of Enhanced Sync, AMD shared a frame time graph with Enhanced Sync and with V-Sync in Halo Infinite.

What we can see from the results is that when V-Sync is enabled, stuttering and frame rates vary greatly, making the game difficult to play and very inconsistent. With Enhanced Sync enabled, however, frames are displayed at a much more stable rate with very few fluctuations, which results in a more stable and responsive gaming experience. In Halo Infinite, players can experiment up to 51% lower latency with Enhanced Sync on than when V-Sync “on”.

Enhanced Sync also works with FreeSync to allow smooth, stutter-free gameplay even on dynamic refresh rate monitors. Enhanced Sync is compatible with titles based on DirectX 9, 10, 11, 12 and Vulkan APIs, but not OpenGL ones.
