AMD, will there be no ‘smooth’ Radeon RX 6700 at the March 3 event?

According to rumors collected by the French site Cowcotland, at the event of March 3 AMD will only present the Radeon RX 6700 XT. There will therefore be no Radeon RX 6700, model based on the same Navi 22 GPU as the XT but with reduced specifications to settle in a lower price and performance range.

“Only the RX 6700 XT will be announced. The RX 6700 was also on the AMD program, for March 15th, but it’s been postponed (for now) and therefore we will only have the RX 6700 XT which will be commercially available on March 18th “, writes the transalpine site adding that the availability of reference and custom cards in France (but in Italy it will be the same or worse) will be “very limited”.

“As for the reference card, there should be only a hundred available to all brands and not one more, because it will go directly to EOL (End of Life, it will no longer be produced, ed). Also for the partner cards, the custom models, we are talking about a hundred pieces at launch, so availability will be extremely limited “.

The numbers, however dramatic, should therefore be slightly better than what was seen at the launch of the previous RX 6000 series GPUs, but still unsatisfactory to cover a demand that will be higher given the market segment to which the RX 6700 XT will go. place themselves.

In short, even if the RX 6700 does not appear at the event, the current shortage situation leads to not despair too much, as it is difficult to buy both immediately and in the following weeks. This of course also applies to the XT model, but in this case AMD needs to beat a beat to respond to the expansion of the range implemented by Nvidia with the RTX 3070, 3060 Ti and finally with the very fresh RTX 3060 12GB.
