Android privacy will go to a new level. Google will fight for our data

Google announced that it is working on the Android system in terms of new measures for privacy and data sharing of smartphone users. In this way, Google will fight for our privacy (of Android users) in a similar way as Apple last year, although the changes will not be so drastic in their consequences … apparently.

Many companies make money mainly from our data. But that will change soon, because they won’t lay hands on them with that ease anymore

Meta (formerly Facebook) made money on its social media primarily through personalized ads that required access to a lot of user data. Apple has significantly curtailed access to them (by changing the default setting for consent to provide information to objection), which is said to bring up to 10 billion losses for the company in 2022. However, it seems that not only Apple owners will bite off the Meta for many years of feeding on our data.

Advertising

Today we announce a multi-year initiative to build Privacy Sandbox for Android to introduce new, more private advertising solutions. In particular, these solutions will limit the sharing of user data with third parties and work without cross-app identifiers, including advertising identifiers. We are also investigating technologies that reduce the potential for covert data gathering, including safer ways for apps to integrate with the Ads SDK.

– wrote vice president Anthony Chavez from the Android department of Google.

However, Google believes that it cannot just block access to data as Apple did. Such a move in the eyes of the company can lead to greater problems for users, because without an alternative, companies feeding on data will try to maintain access to it by more aggressive methods. Unfortunately, it is difficult to come up with the details of this Google strategy, as well as the exact timing of the changes.
