Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Impact, a motherboard that has 6 GHz in the strings

Asus ROG (Republic of Gamers) says through its Facebook page that it has achieved “another huge milestone” with his ROG Crosshair VIII Impact (Amazon): the motherboard allowed to reach a frequency of 6 GHz on the new Ryzen 9 3950X CPU, and the same frequency was also obtained on the DDR4 memory.

Mind you, this does not mean that an overclocker was able to pull the CPU to 6 GHz and the memory at the same frequency simultaneously on the same motherboard, but that the motherboard was the protagonist of two separate OC tests that led to this result for CPU and memory.

The first result would certainly have been more incredible, but even so there is nothing to complain about.

The South Korean SafeDisk overclocker managed to break the 6 GHz barrier with a liquid nitrogen-cooled Ryzen 9 3950X CPU. The speed reached by the CPU and verified by HWBot was 6,003.55 MHz. The system tested by SafeDisk was equipped with 16 GB of G.Skill RAM and a GeForce GT710 (stock).

Unfortunately for him and Asus, touching 6 GHz has not earned him the absolute record with the new CPU. The Taiwan TSAIK overclocker, using an MSI MEG X570 Godlike motherboard, has in fact reached 6,041.56 MHz.

We remind you that the base clock frequency of the AMD Ryzen 9 3950X CPU is 3.5 GHz, with a turbo boost speed of 4.7 GHz.

As for the 6 GHz of the DDR4 instead, this result must be charged to the Greek OGS, currently at the top of the HWBot ranking with 6,054.4 MHz. For this record he used Crucial Ballistix Elite memories on an Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Impact motherboard with a Ryzen 5 3600X processor at stock frequencies.

In September the Toppc overclocker from Taiwan brought G.Skill Trident Z Royal to 6016.8 MHz using a system based on an Intel Core i9-9900K ES (engineering sample) CPU and an MSI MPG Z390I Gaming Edge AC motherboard ( MS-7C04).
