The contract covers the delivery of eight Beechcraft AT-6 Wolverine aircraft, ground support equipment, spare parts and training equipment. According to a company statement (via Defense News), training for Thai maintenance specialists will begin in Thailand in 2023 and training for pilots in Wichita in 2024. This AT-6 deal supports the country’s modernization priorities and the US-Thailand defense cooperation agreement.

The AT-6 are due to join the Royal Thai fleet in 2024 as the Beechcraft AT-6TH, and it just so happens that Thailand is the first international customer to reach for these light attack aircraft. Those in the service of the Air Force there will carry out “a wide range of missions to support border security as well as to combat drug smuggling and human trafficking,” Textron’s president said.
