Chrome uses less memory, crashes less, and loads search results faster, according to Google
Google Highlight some improvements it made in recent times to its Chrome web browser on the official Chromium website. These improvements reduce the number of browser crashes and memory usage of the browser, improve its responsiveness and the loading of Google search results.
Google Chrome, with Google Search as the default search engine, will load search results faster now in many cases according to Google. Chrome displays suggestions when users start typing, and browser users can select one of the results to open the search results page.
Chrome now pre-searches for suggestions based on the probability of selection. The algorithm analyzes all suggestions based on the probability of selection and will pre-search the search results if “a suggested query is highly likely to be selected.”
The new feature only works if Google Search is set as the default search engine in Chrome, which is by default, and if the “Autocomplete searches and URLs” feature is also enabled.

Google claims that “search results are now 4 times more likely to be displayed in 500 ms.” Other search providers can use the function “adding information to query suggestions sent from their servers to Chrome,” according to Google.
Chrome will not preload the results if speculative preload is disabled in the browser or if the user has disabled JavaScript. Google lists several other reasons on the linked site above.
The second improvement comes in the form of Chrome’s new memory allocator, PartitionAlloc. Its implementation began in Android and Windows in Chrome 89, in Linux in Chrome 92 and in Chrome OS in Chrome 93.
ChromeOS data reveals a 15% reduction in total memory footprint and a 20% reduction in browser process memory.
The third and final improvement reduces the number of browser crashes. Google removed a local browser cache that was added years ago as it added complexity, increased memory usage, and was a major contributor “to turning off browser locks.”
