Clock in clock: 7700K vs 6700K

The first tests of the Intel i7 7700K processor have already been leaked to the network. They showed that the performance was disappointing. At 4.2 GHz and 4.5 GHz in boost mode, the processor was just slightly ahead of the last-gen i7 6700K. The expreview.com portal has just revealed another nail in the coffin of new processors.

To check if the 7700K differs in anything from its older brother, they lowered its clocks to 4.0 GHz, which is the same frequency as the 6700K, and compared both processors in several benchmarks and games. See the results of the experiment below.

The Intel i7 7700K is 0.86% slower than its predecessor in single-threaded operations and almost as efficient in multi-threaded operations. It’s the same with games. It follows that the new processor will be more efficient only due to the higher clock speed. So if you have 6700K, crank it up and you will get the performance of the new processors. In my opinion, this is an embarrassing approach from Intel and I hope that AMD will mess up the market a lot.
