Cooler Master MasterAir MA621P TR4 cooling test

Another cooling for Threadripper was provided by Cooler Master. This is the MasterAir MA621P TR4 model which has two fans. Will it show up in the test results?

Appearance

The cooling unit is packed in a purple and black package. Along with it we get the manual, assembly kit, small tube of paste, screwdriver, controller, 4 pin cable and RGB cable. The cables allow you to connect the fans and their illumination to one 4-pin and RGB connector. However, if you do not have such a connector, you can use the remote control, which, however, is on the cable and to change the colors with it, open the housing. The mounting system has unfortunately been a bit broken. If you have a motherboard with large heat sinks, even the included screwdriver will not help you. You will have to bend the screws strangely, force the screwdriver – someone has clearly not thought about it. The warranty is 2 years.

Cooling looks really great. The backlight does the job, and the top fins also improve the overall perception. The MasterAir MA621P TR4 measures 121.8 x 136.1 x 164.5 mm and weighs 870 g. The cooler has six 6 mm heat pipes that are in direct contact with the processor. This is to ensure great heat dissipation. The build quality is very good, I can’t fault the producer here.

The included fans are the 120mm MF120R RGB models. Their maximum speed is 1800 RPM, the air flow is 53.4 CFM, the pressure is 1.65 mmH2O and the volume is 31 dBA. The fans have PWM, so they can be controlled via the motherboard. MTBF is 160 thousand hours.

Tests and summary

Cooling is by far the most efficient design in the ranking. Two fans and six heat pipes keep temperatures low. The work culture is not even that bad at top speed. It is certainly noisy, but it’s not a vacuum cleaner yet. However, at 1200 RPM and 800 RPM it is already quiet.

Cooler Master MasterAir MA621P TR4 costs about PLN 330. For the price, it is definitely one of the best choices. The cooling has RGB backlight that can be synchronized with the motherboard or controlled with the included controller. It performs very well in tests – it is not even as loud as it seems. Cooling, unfortunately, has one serious drawback – assembly. It is completely ill-considered and with a board with large heat sinks you will have a problem. But if you think that you can handle it, you can safely buy this construction.
