Cooperative campaign mode is delayed

Halo Infinite

343 Industries announced this weekend the delay of the cooperative campaign mode in Halo Infinite, since for now the user experience is not what they want to deliver, hoping that later they can give a release date. This affects both online co-op and split-screen co-op.

Additionally, they indicated that the Second Season of the game, full of new content, is complying with the roadmap and that it will arrive, as indicated, May 3.

I’m here to answer two questions that we know are the most important to the Halo community: “What is the Halo Infinite team working on right now?” and “When can we expect new content and features?” I’ll start with a few quick answers, and then go into more detail, even sharing some new information about what’s coming with Season 2.

This is the approach of the Halo Infinite team, in order of priority:

1 – Fix issues that negatively affect the player experience.
2 – Complete the second season and deliver it as promised on May 3.
3 – Continue working on the Co-Op Campaign, Forge and Season 3.

We also have a “Priority Zero” that underlies everything we do, namely team health, with an emphasis on achieving a sustainable pace of development so that we can deliver great experiences to all of you while maintaining a healthy balance between work and life.

Zero priority means that sometimes we have to go slower so we can go faster later. Frankly, these past few months have been slower than we expected, and we sincerely thank you for your patience as we stay true to the above priorities.”

[…] We are making great progress in the co-op campaign. And just to be clear, this work has been done in parallel to the work on the second season, just like our work on Forge.

But the reality is that it’s going to take longer to get a full-featured, high-quality 4-player network co-op experience set in the huge, expansive world of Halo Infinite. We’re also committed to a great 2-player split-screen co-op experience across all Xbox consoles, from the original Xbox One to Xbox Series X, and the sprawling, non-linear sections of the Campaign present some great split-screen challenges to behold. It took us longer to resolve.

All of this means that we won’t be able to deliver the Co-op Campaign on May 3, at the start of Season 2. However, our goal is to offer Campaign network co-op later in Season 2, and we will share a release date for it and split-screen co-op as soon as we can.”
