Desktop CPU sales in April, will the new Intel CPUs turn the tide?

Mindfactory, a leading German hardware retailer, released i retail data of Intel and AMD CPUs for the month of April. It is a single retailer and for this reason it only photographs the specific situation, but it is still interesting to get an idea of how things are going in the sector (it is a photograph of the CPU purchases by individual people, which does not count PC pre-assembled and OEM sales). Over the course of the news we will also see Amazon's bestsellers in some countries, including Italy.

In the past few days, AMD has stated, on the sidelines of the last quarterly report, that it has seen a very high demand for Ryzen 3000 and 2000 CPUs, so much so that it is firmly in the best sellers of the main world retailers. Mindfactory data seems to confirm these words, with one share for the CPU of the manufacturer which reached 91%, exceeding in numerical terms the 30,000 units sold.

To make the lion's share we find the usual Ryzen 5 3600 (Amazon) and Ryzen 7 3700X (Amazon), but there is also a good demand for the old Ryzen 5 2600 (Amazon) and the Ryzen 5 3600X (Amazon). On the Intel front, the most requested continue to be the K processors, with the Core i7-9700K (Amazon), the Core i5-9600K (Amazon) and the Core i9-9900K (Amazon). Intel's share, however, stops at 9% in April, with just over 3,000 units sold.

Overall, however, the data allow us to outline the situation broadly.
