Diemension is the first consumer headphones from Dolby

Sometimes you wonder why companies setting standards and creating technology that are shared with others rarely try their hand at physical production? One of such companies was until recently Dolby, which has just presented the innovative Dimension headphones.

This news is important because these are the first Dolby headphones designed for the consumer market. And as it happens in such moments, the company has probably allocated a huge amount of resources to designing them and producing them in order to enter the segment of headphones for “ordinary Smiths” with a bang. At first glance, however, the Dimension does not seem revolutionary. So we can think that it is simply a solid product in a reasonable, although I suppose a decent configuration. On board there is Bluetooth connectivity, proprietary 40-mm acoustic drivers and active noise removal from the environment (ANC) intended mainly for home conditions.

Apparently, the battery in Diemension, available for $ 599, lasts up to 15 hours without active mute and 10 hours with activated mute. Charging the battery, in turn, takes only two hours, although it is definitely not the fastest, which was certain after using a wireless charging station. The whole is complemented by compatibility with the Dolby application for Android and iOS, a touch panel on the earcups and a set of buttons. The design itself is definitely minimalist, the choice of which is not that surprising to me in today’s fashion for stuffing colors and fancy stamps wherever possible.
