Simple, the game (along with Red Dead Online) was updated with support for DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling), Nvidia’s AI-based technology that aims to increase gaming performance without compromising image quality.
According to Nvidia, by enabling DLSS from the settings menu, under the graphics card, gamers can enjoy up to 45% higher performance in 4K, even with an RTX 2060 which to this day represents the gateway to ray tracing and DLSS. Nvidia talks about DLSS set to Performance, a setting that certainly degrades the image quality a bit, but based on your video card, we advise you to experiment to find the right compromise.
“With the help of DLSS, all GeForce RTX gamers can enjoy the incredible world of Red Dead Redemption 2 with maximum detail settings at 1920×1080 at over 60 FPS. At 2560×1440, the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti and higher cards can deliver more than 60 FPS. And at 3840×2160, gamers with a GeForce RTX 3070 or faster can have over 60 FPS with maximum details, “Nvidia points out.
DLSS support comes alongside Red Dead Online’s latest update, Blood Money, where players face “the dark side” of the American frontier with a series of new high-risk robberies and other illegal activities. Red Dead Redemption 2 is added to a list of nearly 60 titles with DLSS support, but Nvidia promises that many more will follow in the coming weeks and months.
