Elden Ring

According to market analyst GSD, Elden Ring is officially the best launch of a new IP in Europe since 2016, the year in which it was launched The Division. It was also the best launch of a game since Call of Duty: Vanguard (November 2021).

Although exact sales figures were not given, at least we know that the most popular version of Elden Ring It was in its PC versionwhich represents 44 percent of sales. Followed far behind PlayStation 5 with 27% of sales, Xbox Series X|S consoles with 16% and the PlayStation 4 with 13%.

Basically, it was the biggest game release in February. in almost all of Europe, except for Germany, who had more fun playing Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Obviously a much easier game to beat than this one.

The second best-selling game in that month was the PlayStation exclusive Horizon Forbidden West, where 59% of sales belonged to the PlayStation 5 and the rest to the PlayStation 4 (the third was the Pokémon). In that month, 13.56 million games were sold in Europe, 8% more than the same period in 2021. This growth was mostly powered by physical copieswhich increased by 11% compared to 6% for digital.

Perhaps the most interesting thing next to the success of Elden Ring, is that for the first time the Xbox Series X|S has outsold the PlayStation 5 in Europemostly thanks to the availability of the Xbox Series S.
